Thursday April 7th – Romsey Challenge Bowl

The Annual Romsey Challenge Bowl for 2022 was held in excellent golfing weather. A touch of early morning fog lifted to reveal a windless, sunny day. The course was in picture perfect condition with dew glistening in the sunlight on the beautifully grassed greens at the start of the round.
The recently mown fairways and rough was appreciated by the players and allowed for some good scoring, the highest being Shinobu Littman (17) from Goonawarra with 40 points. All three Grade winners scored 37 points with a number of countbacks required on that score.
Players enjoyed a lovely lunch after the round and discussion around the tables was jovial with everyone happy to be back in the swing of things after the previous two years of covid disruption.

Kilmore D Lancefiield v – 5/0

Saturday April 2nd – Quarter Finals Algie Mitchell Shield & Stableford

Play got underway with a steady, very cold NE wind and rain due later in the afternoon.  Given the weather forecast the club was happy with the good turnout.  Early in the round conditions were more benign but as groups headed into the back nine the drizzle started and the wind blew up.  Towards the end of the round the drizzle had strengthened; umbrellas were up and hands and grips were wet, towels were too damp to dry either.  Over the final holes more than  a few golfers saw their clubs twist and their shots head well off the intended line.   The 1/4 finals of the Algie Mitchell Shield got underway earlier in the day but most pairs were also caught by the challenging  conditions.  On a cool, damp day to be out on the course the results were;

Winner; Josh Squire (36) – 41 pts

3rd; Scott Williams (13) – 36 pts
