Saturday October 22nd – 4B Multiplier Stableford

While there were a few areas of surface water and the fairways were again soft the course had generally recovered very well from the heavy overnight rain,  The sun shone all afternoon and players could almost see the grass growing  All greens were again good, a tribute to Steve Wilkins who does so much work to keep them in their best possible condition.  4B Multiplier Stableford often throws up unusual results, teams may score eight or more points on a hole or they may record a zero.   On a sunny afternoon the results were;

1st – Mitch Atlas (7)/Sherif Abdel -Sayed (34) – 56pts

2nd – Luke Lyons (15)/Steve Wilkins (18) – 54pts

Wednesday October 19th – Stableford

With the flooding rains and the results of the recent fire damage making things very difficult for our volunteers it was amazing to see the course in such good condition. We are very thankful for all the mowing of the fairways, the surrounds and the greens that has taken place. The weather was great too so it was overall a lovely day.
The field played from the red tees, of which the 8th is a par 5, and Luke Lyons managed to hole his third shot from 35 metres out to record an eagle. Nearest the pin on the 15th was also Luke and needless to say Luke continued on his merry way to record the best score of the day. Congratulations Luke Lyons!!!

2022 Euroa Bowl

Romsey Golf Club was represented by Beryl Cole, Jenny Hartley and Darlene Baker at the Euroa Bowl.  The weather was pleasant and the course in good condition considering the recent rains.
The winning team was from Euroa with a combined score of 90 points. Highlights for the Romsey team was Beryl being runner up in C Grade and Darlene earning a point in the Player of the Year awards. A lowlight was the team being late for tee off after having a flat tyre 15 kms away from Euroa

Wednesday October 5th – Stableford

Steady but light rain fell for most of the Stableford round resulting in most of the field electing to play only nine holes.
Of those who did play 18 holes Jenny Hartley performed the best with a good score of 33 points and second was Rob Slade with 27.

Wednesday September 28th – Ambrose

The decision was made to stay warm and dry in the clubhouse as the rain fell yet again on the course.

The planned Ambrose event was set aside for another, more golf friendly day.

Thursday September 15th -Avenel Tournament

Romsey GC was represented by Wendy Gosden, Jenny Hartley and Darlene Baker at the Mabel Vearing Silver Salver at the Avenel Golf Course.  The weather was variable with light rain for the first four holes followed by some windy conditions that eventually changed to a pleasant golfing day.
The fairways were in great condition with a full cover of grass.  The challenge of the sands scrapes was daunting for some but the team from Yea adapted well and managed to win the Silver Salver for 2022. Congratulations Yea.

Saturday September 10th -September Medal, stroke & putts

Fortunately the first three days of the week were dry and we were able to get machines on the course to cut the fairways and some of the rough.  Unfortunately, on Thursday and Friday another 30mm+ of rain fell meaning the course was again very soft with casual water on many fairways, so it looked to be a tough task to play to handicap.  Play began under overcast skies but, as the round progressed, the sun poked through meaning jackets and vests soon came off.  The wind shifted from Sth to SW making  quite a few holes play far longer than usual.  Despite the conditions a number of players carded excellent scores.  On a cool, breezy afternoon the results were;

1st, (September Medallist); Shannon Wright – 79/10/69

2nd ; Luke Lyons- 86/16/73 C/B

3rd; Pat Chisholm  – 84/11/73 C/B Andrew Clement 81/8/73, Mitch Atlas 80/7/73

NTPs – 1st  – Scott Williams, 15th – Mick Nicholls Jnr & 16th – Daniel Wright

Least Putts; Andrew Clement  – 24
