Wednesday April 24th – April Medal, stroke & putts

Congratulations to Tony Lakey who had the best round of the day, playing well in the chilly, windy conditions. Putting honours went to Steve Wilkins followed closely by Jenny Hartley.  Running comp for women’s monthly medal continues on Saturday with a Jenny posting the score to beat.

Monday April 22nd – Rd 2 DDGA Midweek Pennant

After a week off because of the Ballarat Tournament  the team was rearing to go.  RCG were taking on Lancefield at Euroa.  It was a great day for the club.

Sunday April 21st – Rd 4 DDGA Sunday Pennant

Scratch Division 2  RGC was taking on Trentham at Lancefield. A good third win for the club.
Romsey D Trentham; 4/1 – Mick Squire – W2/1, Mitch Atlas – W20th, Dylan Harris – W19th, Mal Mottram  – W3/2.
Handicap Division 3 bye,  hosting at Romsey.

Saturday April 20th – Algie Mitchell Shield Final & Ambrose

With a top temperature of ~14C and winds, S/SW of around 30Kph it was going to be a tough day on the course.  In the Algie Mitchell Shield Mal Mottram (0) was taking on Andrew Laing (12).  Both had claims to take out this shield.  While these two battled out the final the remainder of the field joined for a round of  Ambrose.   The day’s results were;

1st; Rob Rae/Mick Nicholls Sr/Keith Hocking – 64.84,

2nd;  Scott williams/Chris Manktelow – 65.75

Thursday April 18th – Lancefield Open

Beryl Cole, Jenny Hartley and Darlene Baker ventured down the road to play in the Lancefield Ladies Open. The weather was near perfect apart from an early chill in the air and the course presented very well.
The Open was won in a playoff by Lisa Caines (Trentham) from Helen Dennett (Kilmore) with both women having 92 off the stick.
Darlene Baker managed to win the A Grade Nett with a score of 94/19/75

Wednesday April 17th – Stableford

Perfect Autumn weather for golf on a beautifully prepared course that is a pleasure to play on. The greens were particularly good with bold putts rewarded by true roll across the greens.  Fairways great and the rough forgiving so no excuses during the Stableford Round.   Steve Wilkins took advantage of the conditions to narrowly win the daily competition.  The morning’s results were;

2nd     Kath Jekabsons (35)      35 pts
3rd      Darlene Baker    (19)       33 pts

Sunday April 14th – Rd 2 DDGA Sunday Pennant

What looked to be moving to  cool, overcast day soon brightened up to become a beautiful, clear autumn day with gentle winds from the SW.  Scratch were taking on Lancefield at Hidden Valley and H/cap  3 were taking on Hidden Valley at Lancefield.

Saturday April 13th – Algie Mitchell Semi-finals & Stableford

Another strong field assembled for the club’s stableford round and the semi-finals of the Algie Mitchell Shield.  The semi-finalists  headed off the first and had right of way for the afternoon.  The weather was stunning, temperature in the high teens to low 20sC and a gentle SW wind, add in the top condition of the fairways, surrounds and greens and both the semi-finals and the stableford round were toughly contested affairs. Despite the excellent conditions good scoring proved more than difficult..  The day’s results were;

1st; Mick Squire (5) – 32pts

2nd; John Freestone (28) 0 30 pts C/B
3rd; Anthony Lakey (3) – 30 pts

Wednesday April 10th – 4th Rd Silver Spoon – stroke

A beautiful day on the course for the 4th Round of the Silver Spoon and the Daily Comp. The course was in great condition that was reflected in the winning scores.     Daily Results

Monday April 8th – Midweek Pennant Rd 1

In the 1st round of mid-week pennant Romsey took on the Dalhousie Veterans at Yea.  The weekend’s rain had refreshed the course and the greens were a little softer.  Results were;  RGC  Square DDGA Vets – 2.5/2.5
