Jenny Hartley and Darlene Baker represented Romsey Golf Club at the Doris Chambers Foursomes State Final held at Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club.  This competition is played over two stages with the first stage being a Club Qualifying round.  All club winners are then invited to participate in the final.
As with many courses across the State, Sanctuary Lakes was very wet with boggy patches on most fairways but despite this the course was very well manicured and the large greens were in tiptop condition.  Many bunkers were taken out of play for the round due to the amount of water in them and thankfully free relief was allowed. Carts were permitted but were restricted to certain areas and if your cart happened to enter a restricted area the engine was automatically disabled and only reverse gear would engage until you were out of trouble!  With careful manoeuvring Jenny was able to avoid all no go zones.
To add to the challenges of the course there was persistent and, at times heavy,  rain for most of the second nine holes.  After the round players enjoyed a light lunch back in the warm and dry clubhouse.
Winners on the day were a pair from Peterborough Golf Club with a score of 32 Stableford points.

Jenny and Darlene managed 24 points on a tough but enjoyable outing finishing in 11th position.
