The dire predictions for the afternoon’s weather looked to be coming true as the field teed off with a cold westerly wind and steady drizzle falling.  The drizzle lifted then returned now and again, the wind  fell away so that after about six holes the afternoon, whilst cold, was quite pleasant.  The whole course was wet with casual water on most holes.  The greens had been cut early in the morning so, at the beginning of the round, many players found themselves over putting and finishing up well passed the cup.  To bring home a competitive score it was vital to get good distance through the air and produce accurate approach shots as anything short or wide of the green meant for a difficult chip to get up and down in regulation.  On a clear, sunny, mostly still, very cold afternoon the results were;

Winners; Mal Mottram/Mick Nicholls Jnr – 66 pts from Anthony Lakey/Michael McCarten – 64 pts
