The DDGA Women’s Championships were held at the Lancefield Golf Club. Played over 27 holes this event was held concurrently with The Champion of Champions, along with an 18 hole tournament, so it was quite a busy day. Captain Glenda Woods and Trish Grinter (along with other DDGA and Lancefield helpers) did a great job organising and running the day seamlessly.
Romsey was well represented by Beryl Cole, Elaine Scanlon, Wendy Gosden, Jenny Hartley and current Club Champion Darlene Baker.
In a very closely contested event Gail Leigh (10) from Marysville was the winner of the Champion of Champions with a scratch score of 87 ( with three other champions on 88.)
Sue Byrne (14) Trentham was the overall Women’s Champion with a 27 hole total of 129.
Sharon Cresswell (20) from Seymour won the Mary Dockery Trophy with the best net score of the day with 133/30/103 for the 27 holes.
