A small but enthusiastic group hit off in the club’s New Year’s Day Stableford competition. The recent hot weather had dried the fairways and a number of players found themselves driving passed the corner and into the rough leaving very tricky second shots. The Little Corellas, who had been quietish for almost a month, had expanded their range and had now damaged four greens. A real pity as the greens had been in their best condition for a number of years. The club has tried everything to move these destructive birds on but nothing seems to work for more than a day or two. It was a day for accuracy, both off the tee and with approach shots, and only two players were able to overcome the odd bad hole and continue to score at a steady rate. On a beautiful New Year’s Day the results were;
Winner; Dean Jones (2) – 34 pts C/B from Sherif Abdel-Sayed (24)
NTP; 15th – Dean Jones
