After a week of reasonable weather Saturday dawned cold and overcast, a heavy dew on the greens gave early groups a good read on the first few holes.  There was a steady SW wind which, on occasions, had players scratching their heads trying to decide which club to use and where to aim their shot.  The greens had been rolled and were putting very true though a little quicker than over recent weeks.  Despite some amazing golf on individual holes only a few players were able to finish the day with a good score.  It took a young golfer just “learning the trade” to play generally steady golf and secure the day. The Algie Mitchell Shield final was another close run affair with one player getting three ups n the front nine before some excellent shot making saw the match being all square by the 15th.  As is often the case at Romsey, the most difficult hole on the course, the 18th, is where matches are decided and this was no exception.  On a cool afternoon where the sun occasionally shone through the results were;

Winner; Josh Squire – 115/51/64 from Hugh Williams – 96/25/71, Steve Wilkins – 92/20/72 & Keith Hocking –  101/29/72
